How much roof space do I need for solar?

You need roughly 100 sq.ft of shadow-free roof area per 1 kW of solar capacity. For a standard 20kW society system, about 2,000 sq.ft is required. We can install on flat concrete roofs, sloped tiled roofs, or metal sheet roofs using specialized non-penetrative mounts.

What happens during a KSEB power cut with on-grid solar?

For safety reasons (so power doesn't flow back and electrocute KSEB linemen fixing the fault), on-grid solar inverters automatically shut down during a grid power cut. If you face frequent outages, we recommend keeping your common area DG set/inverter for backup, which your solar panels will keep fully charged during the day.

Does solar generate power during Kerala's heavy monsoons?

Yes. Solar panels require daylight, not direct heat. While efficiency drops slightly on heavily overcast days, it still generates power. Moreover, the excess power you generated and gave to KSEB during the sunny summer months acts as a credit buffer to offset your usage during the rainy season via Net Metering.

Is there any maintenance required?

Solar panels have no moving parts, so maintenance is minimal. The only requirement is washing the dust off the panels every few weeks with plain water to maintain peak generation. With FGE Solar, we include 5 years of free annual technical maintenance checks to ensure everything runs perfectly.
